The challenges currently being faced by music festivals due to rising costs have made plenty of headlines this year, with dozens of events having fallen by the wayside. However, at least one company that provides technology for festival organisers seems to be in rude health.
French company Weezevent has seen its revenues grow from €23m in 2013 to €350m in 2023 according to a profile in the Financial Times. The piece notes that around 15,000 events are now using its technology for ticketing, access control and cashless payments, including Boomtown in the UK and Hellfest in France.
However, despite his company’s growth, CEO Pierre-Henri Deballon also talked about the industry’s challenges in the article. “Small festival organisers are struggling so much,” he said, while also pointing to “big inflation on the cost of artists”.
